A contact lens optometrist fits specialty and medically necessary lenses: scleral and hybrid lenses for keratoconus and irregular corneas, orthokeratology and other myopia-control lenses for children, and lenses after corneal surgery.
Many hold FSLS or the AAO cornea and contact lens diplomate and work in referral practices and academic clinics.
