Post a Job →What Does an Optometric Technician Do?
An optometric technician (optometric tech, eye care technician or doctor's technician) takes patient histories and runs the pre-test: visual acuity, auto-refraction, tonometry, visual fields, OCT and retinal photos, and may train patients on contact lenses.
Most are trained on the job; the AOA's CPOT credential marks an experienced tech.
It is a common first step toward optometry school.
